Notes from the Designer:

Sagacity is an elegant, yet fun-to-knit sock pattern. Sagacity means "wisdom" or "intelligence," which I believe describes the design in a way that gives it meaning and purpose. The stockinette around the main cable stitch pattern allows you to knit the socks quickly, and the overall design is perfect for many occasions!

The socks are knit cuff-down in the round on DPNs with heel flap and gusset shaping and a wedge-style toe. The cuff is a cabled 2x2 rib, which adds to the uniqueness of the pattern. The socks feature an easy cable that starts from the outer side of the front of the leg and goes inwards toward the middle of the leg, before merging into a braided cable at the ankle and continuing down the top of the foot. The rest of the socks are knit in stockinette. There are five easily adjustable size options that allow the socks to comfortably stay up on your feet. The socks are designed to be mid-calf length, but this is also easily adjustable.

  • Before starting, I recommend that you go through the whole pattern, and highlight all the instructions for your size. There are many instructions that only apply to individual sizes, so doing this may save you time later.
  • These socks are knit cuff-down using DPNs. You can use Magic Loop, a circular knitting needle, or another method of choice, but the pattern was designed to be made with DPNs.
  • This pattern uses terms that refer to DPNs. N 1 refers to the stitches on the front of leg/top of foot, and N 2 and N 3 refer to the stitches at the back of leg/bottom of foot.
  • The toes are knit in Stockinette Stitch, not in the main foot pattern.
  • Stitches are slipped purlwise with yarn in back on RS rows and with yarn in front on WS rows.
