SKILL LEVEL:

Adventurous Beginner: This pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include color changes and knitting in the round.

Notes from the Designer:

Sagacious means "wise, discerning, shrewd" and can easily be applied to this simple tube scarf. The scarf’s double thickness makes it warm and snuggly. The construction allows you to work the piece solely with knit stitches, without having loads of ends to weave in, since they're trapped in the middle of the tube. Plus, the scarf looks much harder to make than it actually is. All in all, Sagacious is a shrewd pattern choice for discerning knitters of all skill levels.

The gradient yarn kit used in the sample shown here allows the stripes to flow nicely and creates a polished look, but if you have any leftovers in your stash that need a project, this scarf would also be perfect for them. I hope you enjoy knitting this scarf and it becomes a snuggly staple in your wardrobe.

  • This pattern is worked in the round, so with only knit stitches, you get a nice, thick scarf. The openings are closed using the fringe, so you don't have to worry about seaming them.
  • The sample shown used approximately 818 yds/748 m total: Color A: 157 yds/144 m, Color B: 131 yds/120 m, Color C: 127 yds/116 m, Color D: 136 yds/124 m, Color E: 127 yds/116 m, and Color F: 140 yds/128 m.
  • The sample shown used a cast on of 44 stitches.
  • Scarf can be made wider, but may require additional yardage based on your gauge and preferred dimensions.
