If those colors aren't available, any from this category will work. We used a total of 1066 yards total for the sample shown. 

NEEDLES: US size 5 (3.75 mm) 48” circular or longer to accommodate the large number of sts.

Notes From the Designer:

•A rectangular stole makes a great canvas for practicing stranded colorwork / fair isle, as there are no increases or decreases to worry about. You’ll also enjoy the single-color sections spaced throughout the chart that separate each motif and give you a chance to relax before beginning the next section.

•Pick 4 contrasting colors and have fun playing the color game as you try to decide which color order you prefer. You can also pick fewer or more colors, or vary the colors within different repeats of the pattern to customize your stole. This can be a great stash-buster and a chance to show off your color flair.

•Stranded colorwork produces a second layer of fabric on the inside of this piece, so even though this is knit in fingering weight yarn, you’ll be nice and cozy when you wear it in the colder months (or around the office).

•For musical inspiration, try listening to Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony when knitting this piece. Think of the shifting colorwork patterns and how they relate to the mood shifts in the symphony. I grew up listening to the Pastoral on my mother’s record player, and I can still  vividly remember those mood shifts and how it felt like the weather was changing, and changing again. I also watched “Fantasia” a lot, so I can picture the mythical Greek setting with the fauns and centaurs, too!
