Notes from the Designer:
The Vineyard shawl was inspired by memories of a hot air balloon ride I enjoyed with my grandparents many years ago while living in California. I’ll always remember the beauty of that day, as we peacefully floated above rows upon rows of intertwining grape vines scattered across the valleys and hills. Rows of cables with wrapped stitches are balanced with panels of half linen stitch across the entire shawl.
- Click the Videos tab to watch a tutorial on how to work the cables in this pattern.
- The sample shown used approximately 1250 yds/1143 m total: Color A: 250 yds/229 m, Color B: 250 yds/229 m, Color C: 250 yds/229 m, Color D: 250 yds/229 m, and Color E: 250 yds/229 m.
- Gauge is important to this shawl, as the shawl uses nearly every bit of yarn in each skein. If you are concerned about running out of yarn, consider dropping down a needle size.
- Vineyard is worked holding two strands of yarn together at once to create a slow gradient.
