Notes from the Designer:
Some feelings are too large for words.
Tender begins where language ends. Worked from the top down, this crescent shawl traces a long journey — beginning in the deep cold blues of loss and longing, moving through frost and pale birch light, and arriving finally, through warm gold and into the quiet earth. Delicate rows of eyelets follow the curve of the crescent, while three stripes of snowflakes bloom across the fabric. The silk drapes like something barely there. Wear it like a whisper. Wear it like a held breath.
Healing is not forgetting. It is learning, slowly, to be gentle with the weight of what you carry. Be tender with what you love. Be tender with yourself.

- Our sample used approximately 2,200 yds/2,000 m total: Color A: 170 yds/155 m, Color B: 170 yds/155 m, Color C: 160 yds/145 m, Color D: 145 yds/130 m, Color E: 155 yds/140 m, Color F: 155 yds/140 m, Color G: 175 yds/160 m, Color H: 170 yds/155 m, Color I: 170 yds/155 m, Color J: 180 yds/165 m, Color K: 175 yds/160 m, Color L: 185 yds/170 m, and Color M: 190 yds/175 m.
- Hand-dyed silk, particularly in deeply saturated colors, may release excess dye during washing. Test for colorfastness and consider pre-rinsing skeins before winding.
- Work edge stitches loosely to maintain stretch along the selvedge.
- Stitch markers placed at regular intervals can help track the stitch count and catch mistakes early.
- The Snowflake stitches (p3tog, yo, p3tog in same stitch) can draw tight. Work these stitches deliberately and loosely, keeping the yarn relaxed between each movement. If you find them difficult to work, try going up one needle size for these rows only.
- The two-color Snowflake Section is worked in Colors I and J. Similar tones create a subtle, luminous depth, while high contrast colors produce a striking graphic effect. Both are beautiful, so consider your color pairing an opportunity to personalize this section to your own aesthetic.

"We never know what is going to happen, do we? Life is always throwing us this way and that. That’s where the adventure is. Not knowing where you’ll end up or how you’ll fare. It’s all a mystery, and when we say any different, we’re just lying to ourselves. Tell me, when have you felt most alive?” – Eowyn Ivey, "The Snow Child"
