SKILL LEVEL:
Some cable experience is helpful, but not necessary. Top down construction requires no advanced finishing skills. Entire cardigan is knit carrying 2 strands together. Simple yarn overs create the buttonholes.
Notes From the Designer:
The feelings of Fall were the inspiration for this cardigan. The colors reflect the transformation of the trees from summer greens to rich autumn reds and yellows. Designed in a lightweight wool, it’s perfect for those crisp, cool days.
The cardigan is knit top down, allowing for some size adjustment as you go. Two strands of sport weight yarn are held together throughout, creating a “marled” fabric. Simple cables and yarn overs create the buttonholes, allowing for a wide variety of button placement. Designed to fall between the waist and high hip, the length may be easily adjusted to suit.
-
This cardigan uses a marling technique. Two strands of yarn are held together, sometimes the same color and sometimes two different colors.
-
Short rows are worked using the German Short Row method.
-
The cardigan may be made longer, by adding more buttonholes before beginning the twisted rib. Be sure to determine button placement before determining how many rows to add.
