Notes From the Designer:

I made this shawl for my friend Sue Ellen, who was going through a rough time. In the past, she had expressed interest in pocket shawls, so I knew I had to make her one. Although there are numerous, beautiful patterns out there, none of them felt like her, so I just let my crochet hook take over. She loved the shawl and said it made her cry happy tears when she received it.

This pocket shawl is a simple design that uses single crochet, chain 1, and 2 double crochet together. It is easily adjustable in both length and width. However, make sure to purchase enough yarn if you want to adjust the size.

  • Click the Videos tab to watch a tutorial, and learn how to crochet a miniature version of this pattern.
  • The overall size of the shawl can be adjusted by chaining an even number of stitches until you are 3” (8 cm) short of your desired length. However, this will affect yardage requirements.

  • The shawl is worked first, and then the ribbed border is worked around it.
