Notes from the Designer:
Soirée is a sweater scarf featuring simple lace stripes down its length. The lace accents add some elegance to the piece, making it a perfect accessory to wear over anything from a cocktail dress to an outfit with jeans. The scarf is knit flat lengthwise, from sleeve to sleeve. The lace has a simple four-row repeat and would be a good project for someone looking to learn and practice basic lace techniques.

- The XS sample shown used approximately 872 yds/797 m total (Colors A and E: 139 yds/127 m for each and Colors B,C, and D: 198 yds/181 m for each).
- The sample is shown modeled on a 34" (86 cm) bust.
- The slipped stitches should be slipped purlwise unless otherwise noted.
- When slipping, the yarn is held in back on RS rows and in the front on WS Rows.
- The pattern is written to accommodate five different colors. If a different number of colors are used, the color change placements will need to be adjusted.
- To "work straight in pattern" means to continue the ribbing as established, knitting the knit stitches and purling the purl stitches.
- The length can easily be adjusted by adding or subtracting an even number of rows from the body portion. For bust sizes in the upper part of a size's bust range, adding an additional 12 more body rows in both the A and E color sections will give a fit with more drape, if desired.
Happy knitting!
