Expression Fiber Arts Yak Silk Fingering (500 yds / 457 m per skein)

US size 2.5 (3 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

US size 4 (3.5 mm) for Long Tail CO and Purled BO (purl every stitch)

Intermediate - For knitters who have made a few projects and are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include knit, purl, yarn over, knit together, slip knit pass over, central double decrease, and slip knit 2 together pass over.  

Notes from the Designer:

Snoesig is Afrikaans for “cozy.” This is a shawl to cozy up in, just as the Pantone Color of the Year indicates. Wrap yourself in the love and softness of the yarn, the color and the design. To me, this pattern evokes the feeling of coming home to yourself. Once you see how the design unfolds, knitting this shawl is not as complicated as it might look. It does take some attention though, but just take it one stitch at a time.

• When casting on, place a stitch marker after every 50 stitches, so you don’t have to keep counting your stitches over and over again.
• Edges are worked in seed stitch.
• When placing the stitch markers when starting the body, the stitch markers in Color 1 indicate the border and start of the center repeat portion, and the stitch markers in Color 2 are placed in between the repeats of the center repeat portion itself.
• Make sure to not omit the yarn over (yo) before or after a stitch marker.
• Alternate skeins and carry yarn up the side to prevent pooling or obvious color transitions.
• All stitches are slipped purlwise, unless noted otherwise.
• The chart only includes the odd-numbered rows. The chart is read from right to left.
• To make it easier to knit the pattern, in subsequent rows you can place a marker between stitches 5 and 6 at the end of Chart 1, after every repeat of Chart 2, and 5 stitches before the end of the row.
• To work the chart as shown in the sample, the center repeat portion (between the blue lines) is worked 13 times.
• If you need clarification on where to place the stitch markers on Rows 13, 29, and 47, check the written explanation for these rows, as the marker information is not denoted on the chart.
