Notes from the Designer:
Seeded is a sock pattern inspired by the look of freshly planted seeds in the ground. Looking at the seeds pop out of the dirt before you cover them up gives you a moment to pause and imagine what the seeds will eventually grow into.
This sock pattern is designed with simplicity in mind. The top is entirely in Seed Stitch, and the bottom is in Stockinette. The socks are ankle length, have a 2x2 rib cuff, and are available in five sizes.
- This pattern is written for knitters who are experienced sock knitters and are familiar with sock construction and terminology, which is not explained in this pattern.
- Before starting, go through the pattern, and highlight all the instructions for your specific size. There are many instructions that are for individual sizes, so it may save you time later.
- These socks are knit cuff-down using DPNs. You can use Magic Loop, a circular knitting needle, or another method of choice, but the pattern was designed to be made with DPNs.
- This pattern uses terms that refer to DPNs. N 1 refers to the stitches on the front of leg/top of foot, and N 2 and N 3 refer to the stitches at the back of leg/bottom of foot.
- The toes are knit in Stockinette Stitch, not in Seed Stitch.
- Stitches are slipped purlwise with yarn in back on RS rows and with yarn in front on WS rows.
- If you want the cuff to fit tighter, you can use a needle that is 1 mm smaller for that section.
