Description

SIZES: S/M, (L/XL, 2XL/3XL)/60", (70", 80") at widest circumference. Approximately 13" length from shoulder to hem. Hood measures approximately 12" height. Both hood and body length are easily adjustable. Sample shown in size S/M.

MATERIALS: 5, (6, 7) skeins of Expression Fiber Arts Buttery Bulky yarn (120 yds/110 m). Shown in colorway: Ballad. If that color isn't available, any shade from this category will work.

NEEDLES: US Size 10 (6.0 mm) 32" circular needles or longer to accommodate the large number of sts at the beginning, plus a smaller circumference needle in the same size for the neck and hood. Needles appropriate for a three-needle BO, if you don't already have them.

Notes From the Designer:

•You'll feel like the heroine of your own fairy tale in this fun accessory piece that will also keep you warm this winter! A quick knit in bulky yarn, you may find yourself knitting several capelets so your friends can join you on the journey (or at the local coffee shop).
•Knit in the round from the bottom up, this capelet is worked in one piece, starting with a large number of stitches at the hem and tapering to a closer fit towards the shoulders before working the hood.
•The simplicity of the stockinette body provides a great background for variegated yarns, or pick a bold solid or semi-solid to stand out on those drab, overcast winter days. The seed stitch border at the bottom hem and around the hood adds some variety without detracting from the overall effect.
This is an advanced beginner/intermediate project. You need to be familiar with knitting in the round, simple increases/decreases, and the three-needle BO method to finish the hood.
•When working with hand-dyed yarns, remember to alternate skeins every couple of rounds to avoid major color pooling.
