Notes From the Designer:

Melly is everything you love about a seamless sweater: knit in the round from the top down, with a colorwork yoke that will keep you entertained through the increases.

•With short sleeves and a cropped hem, you don’t have time to get bored after the colorwork is complete. Pick three of your favorite colors and enjoy knitting this multi-seasonal piece that will add a pop of flair to your wardrobe!

•Melly is knit in the round from the top down to the cropped hem. The neck, hem and sleeve trims are worked in garter stitch on the smaller sized needle. The colorwork and Stockinette sections throughout the body and sleeves are worked on the larger sized needle. After the yoke increases are complete, stitches are placed on hold for the sleeves and the body is completed before the sleeves are worked.

•Gauge is crucial for this project; make sure to knit your gauge swatch in the round and block before beginning! You should be able to knit the colorwork and Stockinette sections to the same gauge. Make sure to keep your colorwork floats loose enough to stretch without being too loose. Some knitters might find that they need to change needle sizes during the colorwork sections to maintain gauge throughout; this is optional and perfectly fine.

•If you are new to colorwork, or tend to be a tight knitter, you might want to consider changing to a larger needle size just for the colorwork section, to maintain the correct gauge. Make sure to knit a gauge swatch before beginning your project.

•If working with multiple skeins of hand-dyed yarn, make sure to alternate skeins every couple of rounds to avoid color pooling or striping.
