Notes from the Designer:

Marguerite is a French word meaning “daisy.” This light and airy stole was inspired by the delicate daisies I enjoyed seeing growing wild on the mountainsides in Montana several years ago. This shawl is perfect for draping gently over your shoulders on slightly cooler summer evenings, whether you’re on a special night out or simply a casual walk with a friend. To create the cute, little daisy motifs, extra loose stitches are made and then wrapped in the center. The open lacework between the rows of daisies resembles tiny hearts.

  • The first half of the Marguerite Stole is worked starting with one repeat of Flower Edging. Then five repeats of Heart Lace pattern are worked with Color A, followed by a Flower Insert in Color B. The Heart Lace and Flower Insert are repeated three times more in these colors. Colors are then reversed for the second half of the stole, and another Flower Edging is worked at the end.
  • Do not cut yarn, unless instructed to do so. Carry unused color along right edge of work.
  • A video tutorial for the Flower motifs is available here: Daisy Stitch.
  • A video tutorial for the Heart Lace pattern is available here: Lace Heart.
  • When working the special Flower stitches in Row 3 of Flower patterns, be careful when wrapping yarn around loose stitches. To prevent puckering of knitted fabric, do not hold yarn too tightly.
  • Aggressively block piece to measurements. After blocking, Flower Insert should measure approximately 3” (7.5 cm), and each Heart Lace repeat should measure approximately 1” (2.5 cm).
