Notes From the Designer:

Though the exact origin of kites is not known, it is known that they were flown in China and the Malay Archipelago two to three thousand years ago. The diamond-shaped Malay tailless kite was first introduced to the West in a New York City newspaper article in 1894.

This cozy wrap is kite-shaped with simple increases in the center of each right side row. Two stitches make up this simple but effective fade from all the colors of the sky as the sun traverses the horizon. Spike stitches are simply long double crochet stitches worked into single crochet stitches three rows below the working row. The V stitches form when two spike stitches are worked into the same stitch with a single crochet between them.
