Notes from the Designer:
This shawl is named in honor of a lovely friend of mine. At 87 years old, Linda is one of the most active and resilient women I know. We have spent many an hour together quilting. As we work, Linda often tells me stories of growing up and having to make do in rural Oklahoma, and every time we meet, she teaches me something new. She inspires and encourages me to push my own boundaries and try new things.
I hope that today you try something new and push your own boundaries. Push aside the things that are holding you back from achieving your full potential, and reach for the sky!
P.S. Linda, don’t tell anyone, but I think you’re a pretty good one, too!
- Pattern is a multiple of 8 +5 (or multiple of 8 + 3 if using foundation starting chain).
- The ch 3 turning chain counts as a double crochet throughout unless otherwise stated.
- When working into a chain stitch (such as the top of a turning chain), be sure to insert hook under the top two loops. Working into just one loop will stretch those stitches out of shape, as well as allow for more friction, which can harm the integrity of the piece.
- TIP: After making a turning chain, place a stitch marker around the top two loops to make them easier to identify later.
- When making the ch-2’s and ch-3’s within the repeats, do not work them loosely. Tighter chains will help hold the shape and structure of the shawl.
- To adjust the width, add/remove multiples of 8 stitches to/from the starting chain or FSC row.
- To adjust the height, add/remove repeats of Rows 2-3. Note: You will also need to adjust the color changes.
- Additional rows and/or repeats will likely require additional skeins of yarn.
