Notes from the Designer:

Frisson is a shiver of pleasure brought on by strong emotions like fear, excitement, or anticipation. It's the kind of emotional thrill that gives you goosebumps or sends a chill down your spine. When I prepare to travel, start a new chapter in my life, or begin a journey of personal growth, I always get this feeling as I step into the unknown. It's an intense blend of excitement and anxiety that stirs my soul and makes me eager for the adventure. This pattern is designed to embody that electrifying experience.

  • The sample shown used approximately 1,739 yds/1,590 m total: Color A: 418 yds/382 m, Color B: 457 yds/418 m, Color C: 424 yds/388 m, and Color D: 440 yds/402 m.
  • This pattern is knitted in a subtle gradient. Before knitting your project, make sure you lay out your yarn colors in your desired gradient. For this sample: Color A (muted grayish mauve), Color B (plummy raisin), Color C (gunmetal gray green), and Color D (silvery gray green).
  • If you want to use a different color palette, note that the spin sections total about 40% of the piece. For the sample, that is about 750 yds/686 m (5.5 oz/156 g).
  • You can adjust the length or width of this piece. To adjust the length, repeat main body rows (4-16) until desired length is reached. To adjust the width, increase by a multiple of 13 stitches.
  • Don’t assume your gauge will perfectly match mine. Always make a gauge swatch to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of running out of yarn. This is especially important if you are using a different yarn.
  • This pattern includes a spin stitch every sixth row, alternating clockwise and counterclockwise spins. While you don’t have to alternate your spin stitches, it’s important to pay attention to the direction you are spinning, so you get a beautiful, cohesive look.
  • For the color changes, you can either cut your yarn and weave in the tails, or you can carry the strands up the side. The choice is up to you. Watch a tutorial for carrying your yarn along the edge here.
