Notes from the Designer:

Fleurelle was inspired by another blanket I’m currently working on for my niece’s wedding. That blanket is made entirely of puff flowers, and I lovingly named it “the never-ending flower blanket.” For Fleurelle, I wanted something that still included these adorable puff flowers, but that also incorporated other simple crochet stitches so that the blanket could display a beautiful gradient from radiant red in the middle to deep blue on the outside.

  • The sample shown used approximately 2,845 yds/2,603 m total: Color A: 390 yds/357 m, Color B: 420 yds/384 m, Color C: 365 yds/334 m, Color D: 365 yds/334 m, Color E: 270 yds/247 m, Color F: 320 yds/293 m, Color G: 350 yds/320 m, and Color H: 365 yds/334 m.
  • Gauge is important to this pattern. Please take the time to make a gauge swatch, and measure your gauge throughout as you work.
  • Blanket is crocheted from the center outward, in a hexagonal shape, starting with a six-petalled puff flower. Alternating rows of hdc and dc clusters are intermittently lined with rounds of puff flowers.
  • Puff flowers are attached with slip stitches as they are being crocheted around edge of work.
  • Puff flower rounds are worked with WS facing, with “corner" pointing towards you.
  • Optionally, puff flowers may be worked with RS facing and attached with RS facing, but directions for placement onto blanket will need to be amended (i.e., switch the left and right sides if you are working with RS facing).
  • Number of rows in each color will diminish as circumference of blanket grows.
  • All dc cluster rows are worked with RS facing.
  • All hdc rows are worked with WS facing.
  • Tip: Weaving in ends as you go, especially after Puff Flower Rounds, is highly recommended to prevent the ends becoming entangled in subsequent rows.
  • The circular design can be enjoyed as a blanket or folded over and worn as a cuddly shawl.
