Two skeins of each color needed.

If those colors aren’t available, any from this category or this category will work.

NEEDLES:

US #9 (5.5 mm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, 24” (60 cm) min.

Sometimes when situations around us seem bleak or those around us are negative, it can be easy to lose our joy. Although masked, it is still there inside of us. In times like this, it can be helpful to shut out the noise and reach deep within, remembering the things that make you truly happy. It may be people that make you laugh, an activity that nourishes your soul, or a particularly fond memory. Whatever it is, allow it to shift your focus, restoring your radiance.

The Felicity shawl is based on a two-stitch, six-row repeating pattern. On the right side, one color dominates, while the second color peeks out from beneath. By simply reversing the yarn colors used in each row, the second color becomes the dominant one. Construction begins at the narrow end, gradually increases to the full width of the shawl, and finishes off with a section of single color ribbing.

• The sample shown used approximately 840 yds/768 m total: Color A: 425 yds/389 m and Color B: 415 yds/379 m.
• Making a gauge swatch is critical to achieving the desired results. Thinking that you “always knit on gauge” means that you assume you knit to the same gauge as the designer. Please DO NOT assume that you knit to the same gauge as I do. Yes, it is an extra step, but it also assures you that what you are knitting will produce what you expect. Plus, you won’t need to worry about running out of yarn. If you are substituting yarn, it is especially important to verify that it behaves in the same way as the yarn called for in the pattern.
• When working the “sl1 wyif, drop yo,” take care that the stitches are in the proper order.
• Unless stated otherwise, work slip stitch by inserting needle as if to purl, wyib.
