Notes From the Designer:
Ancient Indo-Europeans survived off the abundance of the earth – plump and juicy berries, savory nuts and seeds, and the golden grains needed for bread and beer. It's no wonder they believed the earth to be the embodiment of a fertile and generous deity, one who makes an appearance in almost every Indo-European pantheon (think Prithvi, Sif, Gaia, Mat Zemiya). This scarf pays homage to these ideas of rich bounty with the layered cables capped with clusters. The wavy pattern moves across the body of the scarf, creating an eye-catching texture akin to the hypnotic dance of wheat in the wind. The wearer will always carry the gifts of the earth wherever they sport this gorgeous scarf.
- Gauge is important to this project, so please take the time to make a gauge swatch to ensure your gauge matches the designer’s gauge.
- All odd-numbered rows are the RS; all even-numbered rows are the WS.
- Post stitches (FPdc, FPcl, FPvst) are worked on the RS only.
- Except for Row 5, all post stitches are worked around the next unworked post stitch 2 rows below.
- Remember that all post stitches will have a skipped stitch behind them.
- Chart can be found on page 6 of pattern.
