HOOK:

US size H/8 (5.0 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

SKILL LEVEL:

Adventurous Beginner: For those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include color changes, puff stitches, and stacked single crochet stitches.

Notes from the Designer:

Colina is the Spanish word for “hill.” The textured ripple pattern in this wrap combined with the gorgeous gradient of the Dewy DK yarn kit immediately reminded me of rolling green hills. This wrap pattern features a simple two-row repeat that is full of texture thanks to the combination of puff stitches and simple double and half double crochets.

With this pattern, you have a lot of flexibility with your color choices. You can use five colors as shown in the Glade Hues Dewy DK kit, or change up the number of colors to achieve any gradient you like. You’ll just need to do a little math to figure out the row count for each color. The pattern includes a stitch chart for the ripple pattern, as well as full written instructions.

  • Click the Videos tab to watch a video tutorial on how to make this shawl.
  • Getting the correct gauge is important, as the sample shown used all of the yarn in each of the skeins. If you are concerned that you might not have enough yarn, consider omitting a repeat.
  • The chain 3 at the start of a row counts as 1 dc. An alternative to this beg chain 3 is to work a stacked single crochet (ssc) into the first stitch. See Special Stitches in the pattern for more detail.
  • Row 3 Note: As the beg chain 3 counts as a stitch, the first dc of the row will be worked into the third stitch. Please see the stitch chart for help with stitch placement.
  • The ch 1 at the start of a row does not count as a stitch.
  • The stitch count is given in italics at the end of each row.
  • At the end of each color block, change color as follows:
    1. With working yarn, finish row as normal.
    2. Keeping working yarn to the back of your work, yo with new color and pull through.
    3. Pull gently on previous color to move new color into correct starting position for next row.
