Notes from the Designer:
From in between a bunch of sturdy stones and many crammed pebbles, a fragile, fine thread of bright color shows its face to the sky. A newborn bud! Soon it becomes an inspirited shoot. After a few more days, into a gorgeous clover it turns and is noticed only by those who carry enough consciousness to appreciate and perceive how something very alive comes out of the lifeless. Not yet done… a little more patience! There it is! A CLOVER MEADOW!
I present to you this elegant poncho! It is delicate and light, yet as delightful as a whole meadow of clovers. I included Puff, Cluster, and Knot Loop stitches. As the rows build above one another, the Knot Loop stitches form the distinguished shape of four-petal clovers. This poncho can also wrap around you as a gorgeous scarf. When falling over your shoulders as a poncho, it's complemented with an elegant, open sleeve or a balloon bracelet-ended sleeves. Wear whatever style you love.
- Click the Videos tab to watch a tutorial showing how to work the special stitches featured in this pattern.
- Please read through the entire pattern before beginning to ensure understanding of the stitches and construction.
- Gauge is important to produce the correct size. Check frequently that your piece matches the listed gauge.
- The stitch gauge will have very little change when blocked, while the row gauge will change dramatically. This is because the piece should be extended vertically to enhance and open the pattern design.
- Choose the size that best matches your desired bust/body circumference and neck size.
- You can alter the width by adding/removing multiples of 10 cast-on stitches. You will then need to add/remove one pattern repeat at the beginning and end of each row to account for each multiple of 10 stitches added/removed.
- To adjust the length of the poncho, add/remove repeats of Rows 4 - 5.
- The two Body panels are made using fsc. An alternative chain is also given, but it is highly recommended to use the foundation stitches. They will provide the proper stretch, movement, and “snap-back” associated with clothing.
- After working the chain on the RS, you will cut the yarn, and then rejoin it at the first stitch (working on the RS again). This is important aesthetically. The decorative edge of the chain should be facing outwards on the finished piece.
- The ch-1 at the end of the Puff is part of that stitch; it cinches the top. When instructed to work into a Puff stitch, you will work into that ch-1.
- Row 3 is slightly different depending on the size you are making, so be sure to work the correct version of that row (as labeled).
- The Sdsc counts as a tr throughout the pattern.
- The ch-1 at the end of Rows 3 and 5 is only for height on the next row and does not count as a stitch.
- Sample was made in Size S/M, shortened by one repeat of Rows 4 - 5 to fit a smaller frame and used 936 yds (856 m).
