You'll need 2 (2, 2, 2) (2, 3, 3) skeins or approx. 480 (530, 580, 630) (680, 730, 780) yds of Yarn A and 2 (2, 2, 3) (3, 3, 3) skeins or approx. 570 (620, 670, 720) (770, 820, 870) yds of Yarn B.

If you'd rather use one color only, you'll need 3 (4, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5) skeins or approx. 1050 (1150, 1250, 1350) (1450, 1550, 1650) yds total.

If you wish to make the torso or sleeves longer, you will need additional yardage.

If those colors aren't available, any from this category will work.

NEEDLES:

US size ​​5 (3.75 mm) 16", 24", 32", 40" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate: This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include reading a pattern, working in the round, picking up stitches, making increases and decreases, and knitting simple lace from a chart or written instructions. 

Notes from the Designer:

Aravis is the name of a character from one of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia books called The Horse and His Boy. She is described as being both feminine and practical – someone who enjoys outdoor activities and sports, but always dresses nicely for them. I came up with this sweater idea, which blends the femininity of lace with a practical shape that you can wear on many occasions. The construction is seamless and is knit top-down in the round. You can easily adjust the length of the body and sleeves by adding or subtracting the number of repeats of the lace pattern, which is based on a stitch from 50 Fabulous Knitted Lace Stitches by Rita Weiss. I hope you enjoy making this sweater and that it adds a touch of pizzazz to your wardrobe!

• This sweater is worked top down in the round, so there is no seaming or grafting with the circular yoke construction. If you wish to increase the length or sleeves, be sure you have extra yarn.
• Once you get to the body of the sweater, try it on as you go to check the length, so it's just right for you. Remember that the lace will stretch when blocked, so be sure to block your lace swatch to know how much the sweater will grow when it is finished.
• If you prefer a bell shaped sleeve, you can omit the Double Decreases, and work the lace chart as written for the requisite number of times instead.
