Notes From the Designer:
•Here in the early mornings, I look west, and watch the sunrise dance upon the peaks of the Snowy Range in the Medicine Bow Mountains. It’s this view and the colorful alpenglow that inspired the Alpenbow Shawl––a half-circle pi shawl that features a radiating design reminiscent of the light of dawn striking the high peaks and tumbling down through the cloud cover below.
•The Alpenbow Shawl is knitted flat using six colors of fingering weight yarn. You’ll begin with a garter tab cast-on, and then knit back and forth through seven sections. With each section, you’ll double the number of stitches, and double the number of rows, give or take a few rows. A combination of knit and purl stitches, yarn overs, slipped stitches, and other easy stitch combinations, as well as stranded fair isle color work, is used to knit this delightful, draping shawl.
