Intermediate: This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/ concepts include twisted stitches, increases, combination stitches, color changes, and blocking.

Notes from the Designer:

Inspired by the Spanish word for "hug," I designed the Abrazo triangular shawl to envelop you in comfort and warmth through a meditative and soothing knit. As you knit, slip, and cross stitches, imagine you are knitting tiny hugs! When you finish, you will wrap yourself in a soft, textured embrace, as Abrazo will be more than a shawl; it will be a tangible representation of your self care and love for yourself.

• The sample shown used approximately 811 yds/742 m total: Color A) 188 yds/172 m, Color B) 205 yds/188 m, Color C) 220 yds/201 m, and Color D) 198 yds/181 m.
• This piece is purposely knit at a looser gauge to enhance the drape of the yarn.
• This piece is knit flat, and after each row, you will turn your work.
• When slipping stitches, do not pull the working yarn too tight. You should leave enough length of yarn (float) behind/in front of those slipped stitches as if you had knit them, so they don’t pull in or pucker. This is especially important in the Heart Stitch pattern. If you find you are knitting that stitch section too tightly, you may need to go up a needle size for those sections.
• All slipped stitches are slipped purlwise, unless noted.
• In the odd-numbered sections, the instructions “psso k1 and yo” mean that you will pass the slipped stitch over both the k1 and yo that you completed just before the psso instruction.
• You will increase on the right-side rows only, until you reach the bottom ribbed border when the increases cease.
• The transition sections (Heart Stitch) will alternate two colors.
• Charts are read right to left on the right side and left to right on the wrong side.
• Weave in your ends after binding off, but do not trim the ends until your shawl has been wet blocked and fully dried. This will allow the yarn to settle in and mitigate ends popping out.
