Notes From the Designer:
This design is inspired by a variety of rose and is also a subtle nod to Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice!
The design motifs in this shawl remind me of little roses climbing up a trellis. What looks like flowers, is actually a traditional Shetland lace pattern, called “Cat’s Paw." How resourceful those early knitters were, and how thankful I am that their ingenuity has been passed down to us.
This is a crescent shaped shawl that is knit from end to end. As you repeat the pattern, the width grows. Then, after working a few repeats without increasing, the decrease rows are repeated. When blocking, you may choose to leave the shawl straight (as knit), or curve it into a crescent shape. I am partial to the latter, as it tends to hug your shoulders and makes it easier to wear.
