Notes From the Designer:
The calming blues and exceptionally soft yarn used in this shawl have me yearning for those cool mornings when a light layer of warmth and a cup of tea is the perfect way to start the day. I can just imagine sitting on a back porch, gazing across a lake as the early mist begins to rise.
This triangular shawl begins in the center and works outward in rows made of simple combinations of single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet stitches. The border design utilizes three different stitch patterns. The first combines popcorn stitches and single crochet worked in light blue, set between simple rows of grey, providing a nice contrast in both color and texture. For a smaller shawl, stop after this section. For the full size shawl, continue on to crochet a mesh formed with dc2tog, chain and single crochet.
- Click the Videos tab to watch a video where we demonstrate the shell stitch, popcorn stitch, how to get started, and how to work the final section.
- Gauge is not crucial to this project, but will affect yardage and size.
- Written instructions and charts are provided.
- Approximate yardages for each section are given so that the crocheter may choose how many colors to use and customize the shawl.
- Stop after Section 6 for a smaller shawl.
- When instructions refer to “same st,” it means working again in the stitch just completed.

I had the pleasure to test this pattern and loved every bit of it! Crochet shawls are the best!
It's almost shawl season here and I can't wait to make this shawl. Thank you for the beautiful patterns and yarn.
This project is lovely. I am using a wool from my local yarn shop and it's working up wonderfully. The pattern is well written and easily understood. I'm not quite finished but it's working up quickly.
Haven't made it yet but it is a beautiful pattern.
The pattern is easy to follow and well written. Even though the stitches are basic - good for beginners - it is the way they are pulled together that makes this shawl shine. I didn't use the recommended yarns, as I already had a variegated wool yarn that was begging for a project. I will certainly be making other items from Expression Fibers and am saving up to buy some of their amazing yarns!
The pattern is clear and easy to follow, even for a beginner. It is all common stitches - it's just how they are pulled together that makes the shawl look wonderful and airy. I did not use the recommended yarns, as I had a variegated wool yarn already in my stash that was begging for a project.
As usual the pattern looks fabulous. Not knitted it yet but will get to it.
Beautiful pattern. ❤️
I am hoping my crochet skills have grown enough to follow and create this lovely shawl. Thanks much for letting me download it for free.
Haven’t started this project yet, but gave read over the pattern. It seems very well written so I don’t think I’ll have any problems once I start. It will be my next project to start once I finish a few WIP. I’m very excited to see the finished product.
Wonderful pattern as always, expressionfiberarts …… you are the best
Besides the yarn being absolutely beautiful it is very soft, easy to work with and of very good quality.
Stuck at the start and have to follow your video as the chart doesn’t match the written in row 3 and 4 and goes a bit funny at row 2. I hope the rest matches
Love how the simple stitches create such a work of beauty. Easy to follow well written pattern.
Thankyou for the beautiful pattern
I just got this pattern and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my yarn. I love the stitches and colors in this shawl and can’t wait to make it!
Lovely pattern. The color changes are great and versatile. Can hardly wait to get started. Thank you.
I'm not into Crocheting, but I do know how to crochet. This pattern is so beautiful I had to have it.
