This pattern uses 1 Epic Rainbow Kit in Resilient Superwash Merino Sock Yarn (3600 total yds/3294 total m). If the kit isn't available, 1 each of 9 skeins in any shades from this category will work. The yarn is held double (two strands together) throughout the project. This produces a yarn thickness similar to Dk or Worsted weight, so feel free to use those held single instead.
You'll need US Size 6 (4.0 mm) needles, straight or circular.
Why You'll Loooovvvee This Blanket:
•The patchwork idea came mostly from a log cabin quilt my mom had when I was a child. Nothing about this pattern is reminiscent of a log cabin quilt per se, but the idea of putting different squares together to create something unique appealed to me, because this pattern can be a recipe for others to create their own patchwork art pieces.
•The pattern name came from both the yarn kit name and a song by Japanese singing group Arashi called "Love Rainbow." It's a love song, of course, but I think this pattern would definitely be a work of love for anyone who chooses to make it. Even if you make it for yourself, that's fine; self love is just as important as loving others. I'd like to think that anyone who was on the receiving end of this pattern would feel the love that went into it, and would be inspired to share a little love of their own.
•This is an intermediate pattern due to the seaming. You will need a basic knowledge of crochet to work the border. The stitches in the squares are all fairly simple.
•A great pattern to use up those sock yarn scraps and clear out your stash!
