Description

SIZE:

70" x 35” (178 cm x 89 cm)

MATERIALS:

Expression Fiber Arts Signature Fingering yarn (448 yards/410 meters each 3.5 oz/100 g skein)

The updated Signature Fingering sample is shown in limited edition colors: A) Adventures, B) Dare to Live, C) Faith in the Journey, one skein of each color; approx. 938 yds/858 m total (Color A: 193 yds/176 m, Color B: 435 yds/398 m, and Color C: 310 yds/283 m).

OR

Expression Fiber Arts Luster Sport yarn (395 yards/361 meters each 3.5 oz/115 g skein)

The original Luster Sport sample is shown in colors: A) Frosted Freesia and B) Bella, one skein of each color; approx. 785 yards total: A) 395 yards and B) 395 yards [718 m total: A) 361 m and B) 361 m].

Please note that the original Luster Sport shawl used almost all of both skeins. You will want to check your gauge throughout the project. If your gauge varies at all from the designer's gauge, please consider purchasing extra skeins or going down a hook size to ensure you have enough yarn.

If those colors aren't available, any from this category or this category will work.

HOOKS:

US G (4.25 mm) or size needed to achieve gauge - updated version

US H (5.00 mm) or size needed to achieve gauge - original version

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate - This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include: working from a diagram, textured stitches, and picot edging.

Notes from the Designer:

Inspired by the Spanish word for summer, this beautiful, crocheted shawl is light and airy and uses only two stitches. The shawl begins with a center triangle, and then additional rows are worked on the two opposite sides of the shawl. The rows of Moss stitch add additional surface texture and visual interest. The picot edging adds a delicate finish to the border. Let it sweep you away to a faraway summer escape!

  • The updated sample shown used approximately 938 yds/858 m total (Color A: 193 yds/176 m, Color B: 435 yds/398 m, and Color C: 310 yds/283 m).
  • The original shawl was worked in Luster Sport and is shown in colors A) Frosted Freesia and B) Bella (one skein each of Colors A and B).
  • The original sample shown used 785 yards total: A) 395 yards and B) 395 yards [718 m total: A) 361 m and B) 361 m].
  • Please carefully read through the pattern before starting your project.
  • You will want to check your gauge throughout the project to ensure you have enough yarn.
  • The pattern begins with the top center triangle. The body of the shawl is achieved by picking up and crocheting the selvedge stitches along the right and left side of the top center triangle. (See Construction Diagram on page 7).
  • The size of the shawl can be increased or decreased by adding or subtracting rows in any of the sections.
  • Always end the section on Side A (RS).
